- Flying the flag in New Bond Street.
Some observations on street life in Bath today as l walked around New Bond Street. A cold wind providing a very effective flutter for what must be the most impressive Union flag dangling over a shop-front in the city. It’s the Bath branch of the Savile Row tailors Gieves and Hawkes and some welcome red, white and blue on a grey morning.
Elsewhere on the street a B&NES workman – wrapped up against the cold – is busy replacing cracked paving stones and doing a fine job. It must be a pretty on-going occupation at that.
Out on to the High Street and the hope that this is not going to be the permanent way the new paving of the re-vamped pedestrianised areas will be merging with the existing slabs?!
